I was bored (AGAIN!), so I blogwalked. Long story short, I came across this friend of mine’s blog.
Apparently, someone criticized her for putting on too much make-up for daily use, as she is one of those girls who wakes up early every morning just too put fake eyelashes, etc. She herself admits that she looks ugly without make-up (even though I don’t think so, but I do admit that she looks better with make-up), and stated a point that there is no harm in putting some effort to look better.
This person whom she addressed the entry to, seems to have criticized her that putting up make-up is not natural, and that men prefer women that has natural beauty.
I’ve heard of this a million times before. Men prefer women that doesn’t put make-up everyday. Their reasons?
1. If a girl puts make-up everyday, they’d look really horrible when they take off the make-up.
2. A girl that doesn’t put make-up everyday will look especially beautiful when they do put on make-up on special occassions.
I agree on those two points. It’s true. But then again, if make-up can help you boost your confidence? Why not? This is another point that was pointed out by my friend. I agree with that, too. YES, US WOMEN ARE INSECURE ABOUT OUR APPEARANCES. We might not say it out loud, our conducts might not show that we are insecure, BUT WE ARE. We take critiques about our appearances seriously, especially from the opposite sex.
Picture this scenario : You are one of those people in the office who sorts out job candidates and interviews them. Suppose there are 2 girl candidates with the same qualification. Both of them are fresh graduates, went to the same university, majoring in the same major, both graduated with flying colors, both has excellent speaking skills. All the qualification factors are identical, the only difference between them is of course, their looks. One is prettier than the other. And as expected, the prettier one has a better fashion sense. Now, you can only hire one of them to your office. Which one would you choose?
Of course, the prettier one, right? Even idiots would know the answer to that.
I would say, even if the scenario was altered a little bit; let’s say the prettier one has slightly lower GPA in her academic record than the uglier one, the prettier one would still stand a chance to get hired. The reason? That she has better looks! Her colleagues might get motivated by her presence at work. She spices up the boring office life. She brings a ray of light to the dark.
Yes, make-up brings a ray of light to us who thinks that we look amazingly ugly, it brings confidence to ourselves! If not, what was the purpose of make-up being invented, then?
I would also like to argue upon something else : natural beauty. Everyone prefers natural beauty, people without plastic surgeries, so they say. Really? I don’t think so.
My boyfriend told me he found his perfect girl : Korean Race Queen named Hwang Mi Hee. I googled her and yes, I admit, she is pretty. It’s no big secret that A LOT (not all) of Korean girls have undergone various kinds of surgeries to enhance their looks. I wanted to know whether this girl has gone surgery or not, so I googled “Hwang Mi Hee surgery.” The results brought me to a lot of forum pages of about her and a lot said, “she might have undergone a lot of surgeries but who cares? She’s so hot. If she did, certainly her plastic surgeon did a perfect job.” I’ve seen this sentence sooo many times, not only for Hwang Mi Hee.
Oh the irony. Oh well, I already know by heart that the world is so unfair =(
